If you computer freezes during a scan with HitmanPro then 9 out of 10 times the NTFS disk indexing has been corrupted by either a BSOD or unexpected power down (e.g. Powerloss).
First try to see if the following steps solve the issue:
Run a chkdsk /f in an Admin Command Prompt
When that process is done run a sfc /scannow in an Admin Command Prompt
Once that is finished run a new scan with HitmanPro and see if it scan's to the end without freezing the machine.
Should your machine still freeze then open HitmanPro
- Click on the Settings Button
- Navigate to the Advanced Tab
- Switch Disk mode from "Direct" -> "Compatible"
- Try a new scan
